Our Impact: A Commitment to Shared Prosperity

At Panamar Ko Ranao, our success is measured by more than just our financial statements. We believe true prosperity is reflected in the well-being of our farmers, the strength of our community, and the health of our environment. Our business model is intentionally designed for profound social impact, ensuring that as our cooperative grows, the entire community we serve prospers alongside us.

Empowering Our Farmers: A Partnership for Success

Our farmers are the foundation of our enterprise, serving as both co-owners and primary beneficiaries. We have established a comprehensive, multi-faceted system to ensure they receive maximum value and support for their hard work and dedication.

  • Profit-Sharing through Dividends and Patronage Refunds: As co-owners, our farmers receive a direct share of the cooperative’s profits. In 2024 alone, we allocated over PHP 101,000 for distribution to our members through interest on share capital and patronage refunds, directly rewarding their contribution to our collective success. This practice is a core part of our financial structure.
  • Guaranteed Market and Fair Pricing: Our farmers are provided with a stable and guaranteed market for their coconuts through supply contracts with the cooperative. This shields them from the price volatility and market fluctuations common in commodity markets, ensuring a predictable and fair income that supports their financial stability and long-term planning.
  • Direct Employment and Value-Chain Participation: We create opportunities for farmers and their families to gain direct employment in roles beyond cultivation, including processing, logistics, and administration. We also encourage their participation in value-added activities, such as crafting goods from coconut shells and coir, which diversifies their income streams and maximizes resource utilization.
  • Capacity Building and Education: We are deeply committed to the professional growth of our members. Through our dedicated Cooperative Education and Training Fund (CETF), which received an allocation of over PHP 14,000 in 2024, we provide extensive training on improved agricultural practices, sustainable farming techniques, and new technologies. Programs we have facilitated include the Kapatid Mentor Me - Money Market Encounter (KMME-MME) training, the Coco-Based Farm Business School, the Organic Agriculture Development Program, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Seminars, and Nursery Establishment for Dwarf Coconut Seednuts. This continuous learning enhances their skills, increases crop yields, and improves overall productivity.

Investing in Our Community: Beyond the Farm

The positive impact of Panamar Ko Ranao extends beyond our members, creating positive ripple effects throughout the entire community of Lanao del Sur. Our commitment to community development is formalized and funded through our statutory funds.

  • Community Development Fund (CDF): A mandatory portion of our annual net surplus is explicitly allocated to the CDF. In 2024, PHP 4,347.00 was dedicated to this fund. A concrete example of its use is the community-wide Clean-up Drive organized and supported in Ganassi in March 2024, a direct investment in local welfare and environmental health.
  • Optional Fund: The Optional Fund, which received an allocation of PHP 10,143.00 in 2024, is strategically utilized for local infrastructure improvements. This contributes to enhancing the overall quality of life within our area of operation.
  • Broader Economic Growth: In addition to direct fund allocations, our cooperative acts as a powerful catalyst for broad-based economic growth in the region. By creating stable jobs and fostering partnerships with other local businesses, we help stimulate the local economy and build a more resilient community.

Environmental Stewardship

Our cooperative’s livelihood is intrinsically linked to the health of our natural surroundings. This understanding drives our eco-friendly practices across our entire operation, ensuring we are responsible stewards of our land and resources.

  • Sustainable Agriculture: We champion and provide training on sustainable farming methods to our members. This includes adhering to organic farming principles, implementing responsible water management techniques, and utilizing natural pest control measures. Our goal is to minimize our environmental footprint and ensure the long-term vitality of our coconut plantations.
  • Holistic Resource Use (Zero-Waste Philosophy): Our operational model is centered on a zero-waste philosophy. By creating valuable by-products from coconut husks, shells, and meat, we ensure that every part of the harvest is utilized. This approach not only maximizes resource efficiency and reduces waste but also creates additional revenue streams, reinforcing our commitment to a circular economy.
  • Future Goals: We are actively working towards securing organic and Halal certifications for our products. These certifications are a strategic step to broaden our market access and serve as a formal validation of our commitment to the highest standards of quality, ethical production, and environmental responsibility. We also plan to implement energy-efficient practices and sustainable water use in all our future facilities to align with global best practices.
